Travelling salesman

This week I've been really thinking how on earth can I scale this business? Initially I've shied away from going to many baby groups to present the business as I feel like it's a bit of a niche concept and my time wouldn't be best spent travelling to a baby group where there are only five people, none of whom are interested! But this is all assumption. I don't know if it will work or not, so I better try it and see what happens!

There is no magical formula for growing a business. In fact in the first part of my accelerator course this week we talked about the quote 'Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.' I love this because it makes success seem achievable even if there isn't some 'big break' moment. When Borro was mentioned on the Parenting Hell podcast I was so excited and waiting for the onslaught of orders, but although a few did come, it hasn't massively impacted the business. Perhaps there is no silver bullet.

I think I need to really commit several months to each particular strategy - social media, PR, events etc, apply the basic fundamentals and see what sticks. Some will work better than others and then I just do more of that - simple (perhaps)!

I've also been worrying about targets this week and whether my targets are ambitious enough. But I think it's better to focus on output rather than outcome. I can't really control how many customers I get, but I can control how many events I attend, or social media posts I do. So I think I'll shift my focus to targeting output and see what happens! First up is in-person events, so look out for me at a baby group near you with a briefcase full of baby clothes!
